Weebly at School: A Source of Visual, Textual and Auditory Information

The above picture shows a sample of how a Weebly page set up by students on a certain topic could look like. In this case it is (a page set up by me) about the business quarter La Défense in Paris (click here to get to the page) which is part of geography. As you can see on the first page, you have an introductory text and on the left there are several different categories (with subcategories) which provide information about La Défense in Paris. This is scientifically researched information as it was set up for university.
The page provides the reader with a lot of interesting information in textual and visual form. The sources are given as well and readers have the opportunity to write the publisher an email if they have questions.

For school, you could use Weebly for such a project as well. Students would set up their own webpages according to a determined topic using appropriate sources. It could replace the typical presentations in front of a class which are kind of old-fashioned if they don't even include new media like power point anyway. The students could, after they have set up their pages, present them to class nevertheless. It would be more interesting
and motivating for the class and more interactive! Each student or rather small groups function like experts on a topic and may be asked questions via email or in a blog.
There are many possibilities for a teacher how to test the students knowledge or, for instance, how to grade them if they have to stick to certain guidelines which are transparent before.

Weebly can be useful for different subjects, almost every topic and all ages. The tool would definitely refresh the way of learning at school if, and that is important in my opinion, it is not used too often.
